About Josep Mària

Josep F. Mària, S.J., is a Professor in the Department of Social Sciences at ESADE. In the field of research and teaching, he has specialised in corporate social responsibility (CSR). In particular, he conducts research in two areas: CSR of extractive industries in developing areas (particularly in sub-Saharan Africa) and values, spirituality and business education. From the perspective of anthropology, he examines ways to promote values that lead business leaders and citizens to contribute to societal welfare through their organisations. He regularly visits Africa on periods of reflection and co-operation and collaborates with third-sector institutions related to education. He is the author of the book Cap al cor del món (“Getting to the heart of things”), Ed. Claret, Barcelona, 2016.
